Nkechi O.

Nkechi is a 9th grade National Honor Society student at one of the top-ranked schools in the state of Michigan and the nation. Throughout the years, Nkechi has dedicated her passion and developing expertise towards taking action within and for her community. She currently sits on the Mayor Youth Council and is a youth organizer for Camp ARYV, a social justice camp. While dedicating her time towards her activism aspirations and dreams of becoming a Neurological Surgeon, she maintains her athletic commitments in soccer, basketball and volleyball. 

For fun, she has solidified her technique as a pianist and competes regularly in musician festival challenges. She has learned various other instruments, including the bass, electric guitar and the trumpet. She participates and performs with Girl's Rock Grand Rapids annually. In her spare time, Nkechi loves to travel and explore the world. She notes Los Angeles, CA as one of her most recent favorite adventures. Nkechi says that travel is an important development activity for youth because it helps them expand their perspective.
